Finally, I had a chance to slow down at my mom's home and take some photos and successfully stole the wi-fi connection from my neighbor.

I am becoming not very comfortable living around columns and columns of buildings around me after so many years living in the States . I can hardly see the sky unless I look up directly above my head. And the most difficult thing to tolerate is the humidity. My sweat from heat stuck on the surface of my skin every time I went outdoor. Very different from SA.

My goodness! I forgot to teach you guys this specific skill in my news photo class - to be able to take photos with 2 cameras and carrying a dog on your shoulder!
A super photographer - I saw this photographer on a beach shooting some boating racing activities. I believe he had a Canon 300mm, f4 and a Lumix crossover with him. At one time, I even saw him holding a can of soft drink. Amazing!

I am leaving for Taiwan for my college 30th graduation reunion tomorrow. Talk to you soon.

Hafiz Men Vs Women 2012

As Salaam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh and Greetings everyone. Alhudulillah, I recently completed my final project for COMM 1317, News Photography 2, course. I Interviewed many brothers and sisters in Houston, TX to gather their opinion on why are there are more Hafiz (one who memorized the Quran) men vs women. Also, what should the Ummah (Muslim community) do about it. Insha Allah, I hope the video is informative and beneficial.  Salaam.

Flash field trip was a blast!

Too much fun! I did not feel hungry until it was time to go.
We did not break a thing. That was a bless.
Thank you for Riley who did most of the preparation job.
And also many thanks for Tricia for helping to solve some of the problem for us.

Feel free to post this on your Facebook. It would only bring jealous, which is good.

Strobist is the definite site to check out

Folks,

What Jennifer suggests was a great website to learn flash photography. But now, you should all be able to understand what they are talking about and be able to learn from them.

Go check it out and find ideas for your own.

Remember, we will meet on the Riverwalk (near Pearl Brewery) at 6 p.m.
Billy Calzada will give talk on Friday.

Again, cheaper equipment with cord attached

I found another one off-camera flash TTL cord.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/749773-REG/Vello_OCS_C6_TTL_Off_Camera_Flash_Cord.html

Cost a bit more at around $35. Sold at B&H.

The cheapest way to creat off camera flash (under $20)

I found this on Amazon. Looks like it works. But it has to be attached to a cord. However,  the ETTL function of flash is retained.
The best thing is, it only cost $17.75!

Now, you can put your flash to the side or with an angle with or without umbrella and let it shine your subjects at any angle without the expensive PocketWizard.

Of course, you will need to be very careful of not letting anyone (including yourself) trip your cord and eventually knock down the flash light.

I believe there is a version for Nikon flash light too. Google it.
